Frequently Asked Questions
What payment methods do we accept?
We accept most payment methods such as Zelle, Apple Pay, Android Pay, most Credit Cards, and exact cash. Secret Guru Permanent Makeup also offers monthly payments through Cherry.
Does it hurt and how long is the appointment?
Each person has their own tolerance for pain. For those who have gotten a tattoo before it tends to be a lot less painful. If you are ever in discomfort please let your technician know. Typically, most procedures are not too painful and clients tend to fall asleep because of the relaxing atmosphere. We DO NOT recommend taking pain meds or OTC pain meds prior to procedures. No aspirins, smoking, alcohol, or caffeine for 48 hours prior as it will cause complications. (We do not advise to stop doctor prescribed or suggested medications/vitamins. If you are prescribed pain medications or blood thinners you will need medical clearance to stop taking them) Most procedures are on a 0-2 pain level out of 10! All of our procedures are minimally invasive. Secret Guru Permanent Makeup takes pride in using the best quality and most sought out products, including numbing! We block off a certain amount of allotted time. Please DO NOT make reservations or plans around your procedure time.

Why are medical conditions and medications asked? Is this not like regular body art tattooing?
Permanent makeup is a little different compared to typical body art tattooing for some things. We use/offer numbing agents (most parlors don't). Numbing agents can have interactions with those with certain allergies, meds, or conditions. Tattooing in delicate areas can also cause flare ups with some medical conditions which sometimes can be prevented with a doctor's prescription. Some clients can have medical conditions to where tattooing can take a toll on the immune system and heal very slowly or cannot be risked with infection. Uneven pigment, unpredictable healed results, and longevity can all differ with some medical conditions. Even though these things tend to be extremely rare, we take the health of our clients seriously. It is required to ask these things when doing permanent makeup while practicing in the state of Virginia. If you have any questions please reach out to us call/text phone or email. We only want the best results for our clients.
What do I need to book online?
To book online, you will need a photo of your driver's license, a photo of your treatment area without makeup, a full face photo without makeup on, a list of any current vitamins/medications, and a booking fee that goes towards your service.
What do I need to bring day of the procedure?
Please bring a current form of ID (such as a driver's license, passport, DMV ID card), the remaining balance for your procedure if not financing, and some excitement! Your day has arrived!
Can I change my shape at my touch up?
Your touch up is to perfect color only. If you want to change your shape you will have to contact us to schedule your appointment. It will require a booking fee (goes towards your service) and half of our current rate of a new treatment plus the touch up price.
What happens after my appointment?
You will book your touch up if it's your initial procedure before leaving. There is no down time after procedures and you can resume your normal daily routines. To go through most of the stages of healing will be between 7-14 days. It takes brows 6 weeks to see the final results and lips continue to generate their true color at 3-6 months. You will receive an aftercare package after each appointment. You cannot shower for 24 hours after, we suggest showering prior to your procedure. You also cannot workout, swim, or put makeup on the treated area for 10 days after a treatment.
